Ten years later, in 2004, Tim decided it was time to retire. Joe acquired the company from Tim and moved Barnum's headquarters to Forest Lake, MN, where he could expand their inventory in a larger warehouse and have space for a custom gate fabrication shop.
The business continued to grow, but by now, Joe had taken Barnum further than he could've ever imagined. In 2012 Joe promoted Mike Senger, a longtime employee to President.
Together, Joe and Mike worked side by side to continue growing the company
and expand its services. Not long after assuming the role of President, Joe decided it was time to begin the process of passing all controlling interest on to Mike and take a lesser role in the business.
In 2016 Barnum acquired American Specialty Door Systems, a thriving business with a longstanding successful track record. American Specialty Door Systems not only specialized in overhead doors and gates, but opened Barnum up to other ventures, such as video surveillance, alarm systems and all things catering to the ever-expanding mini-storage industry.
With continued success comes continued growth. In February 2018, Barnum Gate Services, Inc. moved again to an even bigger building in Forest Lake, which could provide more office space to the growing team and warehouse space for additional inventory and equipment. The new building also provided enough room for an onsite fabrication shop for custom fabrication.
In July 2019, Barnum Gate Services, Inc. changed its name to Barnum Companies Inc., making Barnum Gate Services a DBA under that name. Following Joe's success, Mike Senger continues to bring Barnum to a whole new level, making Barnum Companies Inc. a "one-stop shop" for all of our customers. Other DBAs under Barnum Companies are Barnum Door Services and Barnum Security Systems.
In 2021 Joe did what he has always done, he acted on his dreams and made it a reality.
Barnum Companies, Inc. is genuinely excited about what the future holds, but most of all, they pride themselves on their amazing customers and the incredible team they have built. Each individual that works at Barnum Companies is exemplary, highly trained and a part of the Barnum family.
Barnum is well into its third decade, making people safe and secure.
At Barnum, we always keep sight of where we started. We strive to bring forth the best quality in equipment and service in honor of the man that started it all, Tim Barnum (1939 - 2010). We are proud of where we began, how far we've come, and the bright future ahead.
